Quality Control: Software and Senses Mixed – The Future of Coffee Tasting
Share
When technology meets tradition, perfection is brewed.
At Takumi Collective , we’re always pushing the boundaries of what great coffee can be. And while nothing beats the human touch, technology is here to help us take our quality control to the next level.
In today’s world, coffee is more than just a taste, it’s an experience that blends senses and software. I’m talking about using advanced coffee quality control software alongside the time-honored techniques that we’ve always relied on.
How It Works:
I just received new samples from Kenya and Java (check out the photo of me in action, doing quality control with my trusty iPad). While I use all five senses to evaluate aroma, taste, texture, and overall balance, I also lean on award-winning software like Coffee Quality Institute’s (CQI) software suite.
This software allows us to track:
• Flavor profiles
• Acidity levels
• Aftertaste
• Consistency across batches
Why It Matters:
We all know how important it is to trust our senses when tasting coffee. But we also recognize that data-driven insights are crucial to ensuring we’re consistently delivering the best product. The combination of traditional cupping methods and cutting-edge technology ensures we get the most accurate, precise feedback on every batch.
With the CQI software, for example, we can track the exact specifications of each roast and compare them to previous samples. This helps us keep improving—one cup at a time.
The Future of Coffee Quality Control:
Tech and taste are inseparable in today’s coffee world. As we continue to experiment and innovate, this combination of software and senses will be the key to unlocking the perfect cup for our customers.
Stay tuned as we keep fine-tuning this process. Coffee tasting has never been so high-tech (and tasty)!
